Lebo Wins RC Kings Royal Race!
Congratulations to PA Posse racers Russ Lebo on his victory at this past weekends RC Kings Royal Race held at D&J Raceway in Orrville, OH. Russ drove his Enforcer GBX3 to the Top Qualifier position in the Mod Sprint Class and went on to win the A-main after leading the race wire to wire. This was the same car Russ used to win the PA Tour Race at Staubs just 2 weeks earlier. Watch for an upcoming review on Russ's winning car that will highlight the setup and equipment he's using on this super quick sprint car!
Jimmy Johnson Wins Again!
Congratulations to Jimmy Johnson on another fine win in the Best of the West Series 10.5 EDM class. Jimmy's Intimidator SE3 was again on a rail at this past weekends race at Madera, CA. Jimmy ran well in the sprint classes as well with a 2nd place finish in 360 sprint after some bad luck in qualifying.

Thanks to Jimmy and the rest of the drivers out on the West Coast who continue to prove that Custom Works cars are the "Dominant Force" from Coast to Coast!

Congratulations to Russ Lebo on winning this years PA Nitro Tour
Modified Sprint Championship. Russ capped off the season by winning the
final race of the series this past weekend at Staubs RC raceway with his
Custom Works Enforcer GBX2. Russ also took this weeks A-main win in the
Nitro Sprint class with his Enforcer GSX2 which place him third for the
season in the overall points standings.

New York's Bob Mott made the haul to PA for the series and drove his
Enforcer GBX2 to a 3rd place finish in the overall points standings in
Mod Sprint and also finished 3rd overall with his Intimidator SE in the
13.5 Latemodel class.

Congrats to Russ and Bob and to all of the winners on the 2011 PA Nitro

series in the country and all of the winners should be proud of their
efforts! Also, job well done to Brock Heffner and Jeff Cisney who
continue to make the PA nitro tour a great place to race!
Shearburn nabs class win, Dean crowned \"King\" !!!

The 2010 Custom Works "King Of The Wings" was held over Labor Day weekend under very crisp and clear skies for the first time in recent memory! This event held at Allen's R/C Speedway in Rochester, IL held classes for the both Nitro and Modified sprint cars as well as the rapidly growing 13.5 latemodel class. The "King of Wings" title is earned by the driver's combined finish between both Nitro and Modified (electric) sprint car classes.

Nitro Sprint saw alot of close racing during qualifying and when the session ended it was Nathan Dean of Lewsiville, TX with his CustomWorks Nitro Outlaw who took the top qualifying honors. The A main saw alot of good racing and in the end the top qualifying spot wasn't enough as Doug Gaut of Wichita, KS raced his was to the win. Nathan settled for a great run to second place while other CustomWorks Nitro Outlaws of Ryan Calooy, Max Flurer and Gary Guffey finished the A main 5th, 7th and 8th respectively.

Modified Sprint saw a super close qualifying thru the A and B main spots. From 2nd qualifying position in the "A" to the first car in the B-main was less than 1 second over 7 drivers! At the horn for the start of the "A" Chris Shearburn came rocketing off his outside pole position with his CustomWorks Electric Outlaw. Going thru the first corner the pole winner got squirrely and allowed Chris to lead the first and every lap of the "A" feature to nail down the class win without a challenge. Meanwhile the spot for 2nd place was becoming a very hot race since the contenders were the top two canidates for the King of Wings crown...Nathan Dean and Mark Corns. They battled for the entire last minute and Nathan was able to cleanly hold of a very respectable Mark for the 2nd place spot and avoid doing the math for the combined race tie breaker. Nathan now joins the ranks of all other King of Wings "royalty" who have ALL used CustomWorks cars to earn the crown.

On the latemodel side of the event there was great full fendered racing action all the way thru the "E" main! Allan Webster of Bakersfield, CA found his way from 2nd qualifying spot to leading the "A" feature with his CustomWorks Rocket LateModel for most of the last half of the "A". Unfortunately for him Matt Morton was lurking close behind and with a small bobble from Allan, Mark was able to sneak by and earn the win. Finishing order was 1) M. Morton, 2) A. Webster 3) T. Mitchell 4) J. Renard  5) R. Fayant 6) Wolfman 7) S. Robbins and the B main bump of J. McGuire was 8th. Good job to all for their A main race!

Also CustomWorks congratulates Jim Schrock of Springfield, IL on winning a new Dominator late model kit when it is released coming this late fall. Jim stopped by the track and bought a raffle ticket and remembers racing the original Dominator some years ago.

BIG THANKS to Doug Canham and Canham Graphics for the awesome awards yet again! Sonny Brown for the King of Wings organization and the wonderful Spektrum radio prizes. Mark and Shelly for the race calling at Allen's and Maryville raceways respectively. And ofcourse to Allen, Ken, Mouse, Cliff and everyone who helps at these two tracks make it a fun and well maintained place to have fun with R/C Cars and friends!

Look for set-up sheets from the winning drivers in the Support area of this website.

Spektrum Sprint Shootout! (Maryville, IL)

Thanks to Sonny Brown and Spektrum Radios for this year sponsoring the Spektrum Sprint Shootout with some really nice prizes! Just like the King of Wings event the Spektrum Shootout held classes for the both Nitro and Modified sprintcars as well as the fastly growing 13.5 latemodel class. Below are some of the results...

Nitro Sprint: 2nd place Gary Guffy and Winner Nathan Dean, both from TX both CustomWorks Nitro Outlaws!

Modified Sprint: 2nd Place Arnie Fie (NC), Winner Nathan Dean (TX), 3rd place Chris Shearburn (IL). All CustomWorks Electric Outlaws!

Rank, Reeling & Mulvaney take MDOR Race #1

CRC Hobbies in Fredonia Wisconsin was the site of race #1 of the Midwest Dirt Oval Series. The Nitro and Electric Sprint classes were dominated by Custom Works Outlaws which took the TQ and win in both classes. Wisconsin's own Nick Rank took the TQ and the A-main victory in the Nitro Sprint Class and finished 4th in Electric Sprint. Rob "Wolfman" Mulvaney completed the front row sweep qualifying 2nd and finishing 2nd in the nitro sprint class. Rob was also the TQ in the Electric sprint class where he managed to hang on to a hard fought 3rd place finish. The Electric A-main was won by Lefthander RC's Hays Reeling Jr. and his Custom Works Outlaw Sprint.

Congrats to Nick, Rob and Hays for their outstanding results and thank you to all of the racers that continue to choose Custom Works cars and parts!

Kiser TQs and Wins NC State Champs!

A big congratulations goes out to David Kiser for winning the North Carolina State Dirt Oval Championships at C&S Raceway this past Saturday. David TQ'd the 13.5 latemodel class with his Custom Works Intimidator SE and was followed closely in qualifying by 2 more Intimidator SE's driven by Rob Cutman and Jim Beachley.

When the A main started David jumped out to an early lead and ended up leading the main from wire to wire taking the win with a 42 lap run. Cutman and Beachley rounded out the 1-2-3 sweep finishing in the same postions they started in. All 3 drivers put over a lap on the next closest car in the field and showed once again that the Custom Works Intimdator is STILL the car to beat at C&S Raceway.

Both Jim and Rob were using box stock Intimidator SE's with Custom Works 25 compound tires. David was utilizing the new Intimidator SE Solid Chassis on his car.

Congratulations to David, Rob, Jim and all of the racers who continue to take Custom Works Cars to the winners circle!

Bob Mott Dominates WDRA#3 @ Redneck

Redneck RC was the site of WDRA race #3 this past weekend and in typical fashion Bob Mott dominated the headlines. Bob was the TQ and took the A-main wins in both the 13.5 Latemodel and the 13.5 Sprint Classes. In the Latemodel class Bob drove his Intimidator SE to victory with Wade Rowley, Matt Wing and Mitch Wing rounding out the top 4, all with Intimidator SE's. Setup Sheet

Bob than led a 1-2 sweep of the 13.5 Sprint A-main with his GBX2 Enforcer. He beat Michael Rowleys GBX2 to the line by just over a lap after 75 laps of racing.  Setup Sheet

Congrats and Great Job to Bob Mott, Wade and Michael Rowley, Matt and Mitch Wing and all of the racers at Redneck who continue to race and win with Custom Works Products!

Wohnus, Deburkarte & Funk win Staubs Champ Dash

Gettysburg, PA     05/09/10

Custom Works would like to congratulate the winners of this past weekends Staub Brothers Championship Dash Race. The unique format of this race rewards consistency through the day as a drivers best 2 out of 3 Mains are combined to determine the winner regardless of what main you are in.
John Wohnus put together two 43 lap runs to take the win in Open Nitro Sprint with his ENFORCER GSX2. Another ENFORCER GSX2 Driven by Gerry Kelleher finished a close second also scoring two 43 lap runs. Johnny and Gerry were the 0nly drivers to run more than 41 laps in the main events and the both did it twice!    Great Job Guys!
Dan Deburkarte drove his ENFORCER GSX2 to the win in the Limited Sprint Class. Dan posted a 43 lap run in the last main event that was even faster than the time the open class cars ran.  Congratulations Dan!
The always competetive Limited Latemodel Class was the largest class of the day. CJ Funk took the overall win with his INTIMIDATOR GSX2 and an 89 lap total. CJ ran the fastest time of the day in round two with a 45 lap run. Duane Wentzel posted a combined 88 laps with his INTIMIDATOR GSX2 which was good enough for second place.
A big thanks to all of the drivers who drove Custom Works cars at Staubs this weekend. Great performances like this just continue to prove that Custom Works is still the "Dominant Force" in dirt oval racing.

RANK ups his Track Record at MidWest Nats!

Teas Hobbies in Rochester MN hosted the 2nd Annual MidWest Outlaw R/C Winter Nats on Feb 5th thru 7th. Nick Rank TQ'd in Outlaw Late Model and wo nthe dash on Sat night running his Intimidator SE. Nick's big run was in the EDM Modified class where he pulled off the fastest 4 minute run in the tracks qualifying books at 65 4:00 giving him TQ honors. Also Nick went on to win the Dash Race shortly there after. During Sunday's racing Nick's EDM Intimidator SE set the single fast lap time of 3.3 seconds, surprising most that an EDM could out run the rocket fast side dam late model runs from the previous year. Look for Nick's setups in the support area. Big thanks to Charlie and his father Tom for their awesome track and event. (shown in picture).

Dean & Murphy Clean-Up Chili Bowl!
The 3rd Annual Chili Bowl Jr. held in Tulsa, OK saw Nathan Dean with his Electric and Nitro Outlaw sprint cars and CA's Matt Murphy with his Rocket latemodel earn wins at this years running. This years race once again had 200+ people making the trip to Tulsa to race R/C cars by day and watch the awesome midget racing of the Chili Bowl right across the parking lot at night. Top qualifying honors also went to those on CustomWorks chassis, Dean in Nitro Sprint, IL's Rob Mulvaney in Mod Sprint, and Murphy in 13.5 LM.

Big thanks to Chris K for the images, see his images of the race HERE
Allan Webster 2009 DODC National Points Champion!
The inaugural D.O.D.C (DirtOval.com) champion for 2009 was crowned in a special trackside ceremony at the 19th Annual US Open Wheel Champs. Allan Webster of Tehachapi, CA was showered with applause for his well earned efforts and obvious outstanding racing results in 2009, a DODC embroidered leather jacket, and a check for $500 all from DODC.

The framework of the national points series is set up so you can race various events close to your home and compare your scores with others doing the same in other parts of the country. However Allan chose the harder route by competing in events in NC, PA, OK, CA, and IL!  Runner-up Dan DeBurkarte of York, PA raced the extremely tough PA Tour events to earn his DODC points and lead most of the season over Allan. 2nd Runner-up Mike Schell of Millersburg, PA also earned his points racing in the PA Tour and thus proves how competitve this racing area is.

Also recognition was rightfully given to 3 other individuals for their efforts to promote dirt oval rc racing. Kirt Coonradt was given the "Sportsmanship Award" award. Not only does he organize and promote racing in much of upstate NY but when you see him at any racing event he is consistantly "there" helping track marshal, hunt down missing lap time sheets, or helping someone with a bad day's worth of problems. Jeff Cisney and Brock Heffner were both given the "Acheiement Award" for their hard work putting on the regional points series in Pennsylvania known as the PA Tour. Not just a line-up of events, these 2 guys go to every event, run a complete race tech, announce the racing action, keep track of points, keep track of the funds it takes to buy awards, etc... To have success you must do ALL of the hard work it takes to complete the job, and they certainly do ALL of the hard work it takes to make this a success and the DODC appreciates their huge efforts.

The DODC and the national points is the byproduct of a huge cooperative and collaborative effort among various racing promoters, hobby shop owners, and parts manufacturers around the country to bring more stability and unity within dirt oval racing. 6 titles to CW at the 19th US Open Wheel!
The 19th Annual US Open Wheel Champs presented by CustomWorks saw 6 of it's own cars win titles with an entry list of over 500 drivers from 20+ states and Canada! This year's running was held at Bumps and Jumps RC Speedway in Etters, PA. Owner Chris McKinney through lots of hard work has built one of the nicest places to race RC in the country and got the deserving nod to hold what is no doubt the most sought after event currently in RC racing. Selling out in under and hour and hosting 514 entries is no small feat to organize, but with Chris' due dilligence, Rob Cutman's experienced mind, Scotty Ernst's race command, and the mass effort of everyone who attended and volunteered for this years event it was undoubtedly the best one yet.

Max Flurer was the master of the 3 different 13.5 classes (Sprint, EDM & LateModel) as he was constantly on the tops of the practice sheets and competitors stop watches. Once it all shook out he went home with both EDM and Sprint car wins, 2 TQ honors, and a dash win among the very tough competition.

PA's Dan DeBurkarte who races everything and eveywhere in the mid-atlantic area was another tough customer as he challenged for wins in the Limited Nitro classes of Sprint and LateModel. Through it all when the main started it was Dan who kept clean and fast to earn his first Open Wheel victory. Also to be noted Dan was also the runner up for this years DODC National Points Championship. Great job to Dan for 2009!

From the other side of the country, So Cal's Matt Murphy was hooked up with his Nitro EDM every day of practice and the event for that matter. Other heavy hitters in CW cars like Billy Fischer, DODC Champ Allan Webster as well as Todd Putnam, and Jeff Hotaling all challenged hard for the win but it was Matt's all along thru the event. CW cars of Allan Webster and Billy Fischer made A main appearances as well.

TX's Nathan Dean was the 2009 TQ earner for the Nitro Sprint class over a very close Billy Fischer from AZ. When the feature began you quickly got the feeling it was going to be a treat to watch Dean and Fischer battle it out for the win, and it sure was!. As with the last 2 previous years it was Fischer winning his 3rd straight Open Wheel Nitro Sprint win with Nathan coming home in a close 2nd. Also in CW cars were 3rd Allan Webster, 4th Brian Breckenridge, 6th Matt Murphy, and 8th Jake Flurer. As a side note Billy's 3 in a row along with Arnie Fie's before him means CW has won this class now for 6 years straight!

Finally in what was the most celebrated win of the event we all saw a very happy Jody Utt as he leaped for joy after crossing the line in the Nitro Latemodel feature. Jody and Nathan Dean dueled all weekend for top honors in qualifying and it was hard to figure who, if anyone had the edge in this class. When the main began it was Jody with a wreck and Nathan to the lead and all but seemed to have things going his way. Well things changed in a hurry as Jody picked his way thru the field and then without notice Nathan suffered a clutch failure. With Jody hard charging he gained the top spot and was the leader when the race ended and the celebation began.

Big thanks to Phil Marabella and Rusty Jarret for the images.
Mott, Coop, and Fie earn Sprint Nationals titles!
Nov 8th 2009 - The 2nd annual Sprint Car Nationals was held at Bumps and Jumps RC Speedway in Etters, PA. This weekend long event tailored just for those with sprint cars in their heart saw even more entries than last year. As is typical with the open wheel racing the action was fast, clean, but occasionally flipping end over end! Simply fun in every way! The event also served as a good warm-up opportunity to the US Open Wheel Champs being held at B-n-J in one month.

NY's Bob Mott used his Enforcer GBX2 to convincingly win the 13.5 Sprint class. PA's Phil Cooper (AKA Coop & Chocolate Thunder) was hands down the fastest thing in the building with his Enforcer GSX2 in the Nitro Sprint class and claimed the trophy. NC's Arnie Fie had it all figured out in the "A" as he went straight to the lead in the A and never looked back on the way to his win. CustomWorks thanks all those who chose to run our products, look for winning set-ups in the support section of the site.
Landholt and Shearburn grab Crowns at King of Wings!

The 2009 Custom Works "King Of The Wings" finally happened almost rain free on October 3rd in Rochester, IL.   There was a quick rain shower before the first round but this only made the track that much faster for all the racers.  It was the Custom Works Nitro Outlaw Sprint Car that dominated the Nitro Sprint Class in qualifying with driver Chris Shearburn edging out Nick Rank by less than a tenth of second for the TQ spot. The main was all Chris (Nitro Outlaw) as he ran away from the field for the win, followed by followed by Bob Warren (GSX Enforcer), and Nick Rank (Nitro Outlaw) taking the third position. Making it a Custom Works 1-2-3.

Modified Sprint undoubtedly had the largest turnout of the event per class. Through qualifying it was Jay Landolt running a Custom Works Electric Outlaw that took the TQ spot with an impressive 42 lap run! With that kind of performance the A-main saw Jay run away from the field as the green flag dropped. Chris Shearburn who is always fast made it up to 2nd place after qualifying in the 5th spot making it the 1-2 punch for Custom Works in Mod Sprint.

When it came time to crown the king by adding up the performances of drivers in both Nitro and Modified Sprint, it was Chris Shearburn's win in Nitro Sprint and runner-up spot in Mod Sprint that gives him the 2009 King of Wing's title. "King Chris of '09" had an awesome year around the mid-west and definitely will look to keep the crown in '10.

Aside from all the sprint car action this event also saw the spec 13.5 Late Model class run as well.  Nick Rank’s Custom Works Rocket was the fastest all night long by turning the only 40 lap run in qualifying.  In the main Nick’s Rocket checked out with a full field of cars as he turned another 40 lap run and proudly took the cash payout!!!

Also CustomWorks congratulates Tom Sagle on winning a brand new Electric Outlaw assembled race-tuned in-house from CustomWorks and fully decked out with Spektrum Radio gear and a Novak Speed Control. BIG thanks to Doug Canham and Canham Graphics for the awesome awards! Look for set-up sheets from the winning drivers in the Support area of this website.

  Mod Sprint "King" Jay Landholt

Nitro Top 3... #2 Warren, #1 Shearburn, #3 Rank (L to R)

Shearburn Mid-West Points Champ!
Central Illinois' own Chris Shearburn used his CustomWorks Electric Outlaw to earn him the summer long "West Central Dirt Oval Championship" in the Modified Sprint class. Anyone who read the result sheets posted from different tracks all year on DirtOval.com could not help but see Chris at or near the top each and every week. Big thumbs up to Chris for a job well done!
BBG & Salvas PA Tour Champions!
Long time PA racer Brian Burkhardt (BBG) and Canadian Steve Salvas earned championships in the super-tough PA Tour in Nitro EDM and 13.5 Latemodels classes respectively. The PA Tour is points series organzied by Brock Hefner (no releation to Hugh) and Jeff Cisney that travels to the many wonderful tracks in the central PA area. Combining their dedication along with the great tracks and owners of the area its no wonder why the PA Tour averaged 180 entries per race through the summer. This fact alone proves how tough it is to win one of their classes. Brian Burkhardt used a CW Intimidator2 GSX to kill them with consistency and zero parts failure throughout the season for his championship. Steve Salvas used his Intimidator SE as a late-model along with the nationaly recognized DirtOval.com motor and battery package to guarantee a level playing field and keep racing costs minimized. Great jobs Brian and Steve!!!

Webster and Fie take 1st stop at Maryville
Friday Night at Maryville R/C Raceway was the first stop for the Illinois Triple Crown series set to run over this Labor Day weekend. The event was organized exclusively for the massive amounts of die hard sprint car racers in the southern/central Illinois area. Ultimately racers from other areas can not ignore the fun and good racing that this area has produced and look for any reason to make the trip even though its only a show for sprint cars.

On the Nitro Sprint side, local shoe Chris Shearburn drove hard in the qualifiers and nailed down the TQ honors to start the evenings main events. Allan Webster from not-so nearby Tehachapi, CA was close in qualifying and stayed close to Chris during the main event. It was shaping up to be a race between the 2 however Chris found himself off the groove to avoid a wreck and saw Allan ease by to take the lead. Racing on the track was very close and tight so you had to look for a mistake or opening to get by, one Allan never showed. Chris took home the second spot, followed by Matt Murphy (CA) for third. All 3 drivers used CustomWorks Nitro Outlaws for another CW 1-2-3.

The Electric Sprint side of racing saw a ton of exciting and close racing starting in the "F" main all the way through the entire "A" main finale. CustomWork's own Arnie Fie from Huntersville, NC was able to wrestle away the TQ honors from Texas' Nathan Dean in the 2nd round to be able to start the main from the pole. At the start the entire field ran nose to tail half way thru the 4 minute race with little to no passing going on. After half way there was one small wreck on the backstraight and that seemed to be what lit the fire in Chris Shearburn's car as he drove up through the field to Fie's tail tank as he lead comfortably thru the entire race until now. Shearburn looked, pressured, and raced Fie cleanly and closely until the buzzer sounded but never found a spot to pass. Fie, Shearburn, and third place Nathan Dean all used CustomWork's Electric Outlaws for another CW 1-2-3 finish.

Fri nights races left everyone with smiles on their faces as they headed to Big Bills for leg #2 of the crown. However mother nature was not a big fan this weekend as she made overly sure no one complained the track was too dry. For good measure she also took care of the 3rd leg of the crown at Allen's RC Raceway as well. Currently plans are being made to re-schedule for sometime in October.

A deep amount of appreciation to all the racers who came out despite the rainy weather, Sonny Brown for organizing the event, Doug Canham for the awesome awards, and all those who help behind the scenes at each track for everything you do so we all can have fun together.
CustomWorks CASHES in at Big Bills!
CustomWorks new Rocket Latemodel was the 1-2-3 A-main qualifiers and finishers at this years running of Big Bill's Hobbies Money Race over the weekend of August 8-9th in Broadwell, IL. The event was well attended with nearly 200 entries between the 13.5 latemodels, nitro sprint, and modified electric sprint classes. The racers saw some challenging surface changes thru the race thanks to Mother Nature. Max's car handled some of the roughest parts of the track surface with ease as the minor adjustments he made to keep up with the track really cashed in during the main where he won it with domination. Max was followed by fellow team mates Nick Rank (WI) and Matt Murphy (CA) in the 2nd and 3rd spots to complete the sweep.

On the sprint car side of things it was once again all CustomWorks. Arnie Fie and his Outlaws TQ'd both the nitro and modified electric sprint classes with some pretty fast runs given the conditions from the rain. When the mains finally kicked off he showed why he earned those TQ spots by running away with the wins and cash in both classes. Other A-main performances with CustomWorks Electric Outlaws were turned in by 3rd place Chris Shearburn (IL), 6th Allan Webster (CA), 7th Nick Rank (WI) and 8th Sonny Brown (IL). A-main Nitro Outlaw finishes were turned in by 2nd place Allan Webster, 4th Chris Shearburn (IL), 6th Nick Rank (WI), and 9th Rob Mulvaney (IL).

CustomWorks would like to say a big thanks to Bill and his crew for a great race despite the rain and look forward to next years event!

Webster Wins Lim Latemodel Nats title!
Al Webster from Tehachapi, CA made the trip to Cherryville, NC for this years running of the LateModel Nats and took home the Limited Nitro LateModel title to the west coast. Al used the new CustomWorks Intimidator GSX2 to tune against the fast changing track conditions that challenged all drivers over the duration of the race. Congrats as well to Billy Ballard (3rd), Billy Tyree (6th), Scott Washam (7th) and Jason Bowlin (8th) for their A-main efforts as well with CustomWorks chassis.

Also big thumbs up to Jeff Greenly and Jody Utt for their respectively 1-2 finish in Open Nitro LateModel using CustomWorks cars.
2nd Straight LateModel Nats for Cutman!
In this years running of the LateModel Nationals held at C&S Raceway in Cherryville, NC it was CustomWorks' own Rob Cutman who showed again why he was last year's champ by winning both the dash and the A main for ultra competitive 13.5 Latemodel class.

Qualifying was very tight with the A-main packed with CustomWorks Intimidator SE's. Arnie Fie was able to earn the TQ spot with his Intimidator SE but could not hold off a constantly hard charging Cutman in the dash race that would set the field for the "A". At the start of the main Cutman pulled the trigger and 4 minutes later was the champ, he made it that easy.

Race Results:
#1 Rob Cutman         INT SE
#2 David Kiser           INT SE
#3 Dan Heddleson   INT SE
#4 Billy Dean              INT SE
#5 Jim Beachley        INT SE
#6 Eddie Douglas     INT SE
#7 Wayne Burroughs
#8 Arnie Fie                 INT SE

Pace Aces Summer Nats!
Master Hobbies in New York was host for this years annual Summer Nationals where Pace Gendron and CustomWorks cars in general had a very fine weekend.

In the 17.5 EDM class, CustomWorks Intimidator SE's set the pace with the first 3 qualifying positions and filled the podium with 1, 2, 3 finihses by winner Pace Gendron, Michael Rowley, and Wade Rowley respectfully.

Results were no different in the 13.5 Sprint car class where once again the first 3 qualifying positions were CustomWorks Enforcer GBX2's. And the final finishing order was the same, CustomWorks was 1, 2, 3 with Pace Gendron again winning, Eric Salvas 2nd, and Wade Rowley 3rd.

Congratulations also to Steve and Eric Salvas for their A-Main appearing efforts in the 13.5 EDM class as well.

Nick Rank wins Midwest Outaw Winter Nationals
Custom Works New “ Intimidator SE”  wins at 1st Annual Midwest Outlaw R/C Winter Nationals February 6-8, 2009 Teas Hobby Shop & R/C raceway park Rochester , Minnesota. It was veteran team racer Nick Rank from Wisconsin who took his Intimidator SE to victory in both EDM modified and Winged Late model.  On Saturday night he took the track record at 64 laps with a handful of 3.4 second lap times in the Late Model Class.  He Followed up by winning the dash on a 66 lap pace.  In the EDM Modified class the qualifying times were as close as most racers have seen in many years.    Nick said “ the SE  was extremely easy to drive at speed and responded extremely well to any adjustments made.”   He also ran Custom Works V3 tires which showed little to no wear the entire weekend. We would like to thank the Teas Hobbies staff for a superb facility and great run race.
Bill Impson taking Ohio by Storm!

Congatulations to Bill Impson who set a new track record this weekend at Crazy Boys R/C Raceway in Asheville Ohio. Bill drove his Custom Works Enforcer GBX to the new track record in the 10.5 sprint class. All this comes just a few weeks after breaking the Modified Sprint and Modified Latemodel track records at Raceway 42 in Mansfield, OH. Bill has certainly been tearing up the Ohio Dirt Oval Scene with his Custom Works cars this winter.

Great job Bill and thank you for choosing Custom Works Products.

Outlaw is KING!
The 2nd Annual King of Wings race was held October 4th at Allen's R/C Raceway in Rochester, IL. Attendance was awesome for the nitro and electric sprint car classes, as deep as an "I" main in modified sprint! The "King of the Wings" title is crowned based on the combined finishes in both Nitro and Electric sprint. After 3 qualifying rounds that included 1 round of single car qualifying and 2 rounds of heat races the mains were set. With several drivers making the nitro and electric sprint A-mains It came down to finishing positions to determin the "King". When the dust settled CustomWork's drivers Nathan Dean and Billy Fischer stood tied for the crown with both drivers scoring a 1st and 3rd place finish. After adding in the laps they were still tied so it went down to their combined times to determine the winner. Fischer edged Dean by less than 2 seconds to take the "King of the Wings" title for 2008.

The trip proved to be worth it as Nathan took the TQ honors after 3 rounds of qualifying with Arnie picking up the second qualifying spot. Both drivers were more than a lap up on the 3rd qualifier. This was the first race for the Electric version of the new "Outlaw" sprint car from Custom Works. The kit is expected to be released sometime in September and should have a street price around $300.00.
